Adapted from a press release:
Nestle Purina PetCare expanded their recall of 8 and 20 lb bags of Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Elemental (PPVD EL) prescription dry dog food due to a supplier error resulting in potentially elevated vitamin D levels in two additional product lots, predating production dates of the previously recalled lots, according to FDA reports. No other Purina pet care products are affected.
Purina initiated this expansion after discovering new information regarding an error by one of their suppliers that caused potentially higher vitamin D levels to be produced for this specific formula.
Below is a list of additional affected products; bags containing PPVD EL marked with UPC Code and Production Code are to be discarded immediately.
Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Elemental (PPVD EL) offers nutritional balance with reduced elements.

Product UPC Code – 38100 19192 (20 lbs); Production Code 2214 1082; NEW (NEW).
Purina for Professionals dry dog food was available by valid prescription only from select veterinary clinics, Purina Vet Direct, and other select retailers with the ability to verify it.
Vitamin D in Dog Food While vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs, too much exposure may result in serious health concerns for them, including vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urine output, excessive drooling, renal dysfunction or death.
Pet owners who purchased any of the above-listed products should immediately stop feeding it to their dogs and place it in an area inaccessible by other animals, particularly wildlife. If any signs such as weight loss, excessive drooling, vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst or urination or increased thirst/urination appear while their dog was on this diet, pet owners should immediately contact a veterinarian.
Veterinarians and other retail partners should immediately remove and destroy the affected product from their inventory.
